WPP, a leader in creativity and innovation, continually seeks opportunities to empower its talent with cutting-edge technology. Recognizing the need for a more integrated and agile technology infrastructure, WPP worked with Kyndryl to evolve its existing systems and processes, removing barriers to better collaborate across agencies and regions.

“This IT evolution involved numerous complex components, requiring a partner with the agility and responsiveness to adapt to our dynamic needs,” said Jamie McLellan, Chief Information Officer, Creative at WPP. “Kyndryl’s ‘one team’ approach and commitment to a flexible engagement made them an ideal extension of our team. Their own transformation journey mirrors our cultural and operational values.”

Cloud-first Acceleration

To streamline global collaboration for WPP creative teams, Kyndryl modernized WPP’s 6,000-server fleet by decommissioning 4,700 on-premises servers and migrating 1,000 to a cloud environment. Managing this new IT environment on the AI-powered open integration platform, Kyndryl Bridge enabled WPP to automate the resolution of a significant portion of IT issues.

Through the centralization and standardization of capabilities, Kyndryl and WPP achieved a unified, cost-effective approach to managing enterprise technology across the organization.

Network Transformation

Kyndryl supported the modernization of WPP’s global network that connects 47 campuses worldwide. This included implementing next-generation firewalls and enhancing Wi-Fi connectivity, empowering colleagues to deliver creative work anywhere, anytime, over a security rich and reliable network.

Modern Workplace

WPP has also equipped its people with new or upgraded laptops that were provisioned with the applications necessary for their specific roles, and the fleet of laptops is centrally managed through a modern workplace platform.

In today’s dynamic marketing and communications landscape, clients expect consistent, high-quality experiences. By partnering with Kyndryl, WPP is better positioned to deliver such experiences with a unified, resilient digital foundation.

John Chambers, President of Kyndryl UK and Ireland added, “We are proud of our partnership with WPP to create a digital workplace, and we look forward to expanding upon our role in their continued digital transformation journey. With Kyndryl Bridge insights, we are able to provide WPP with unique data points that enable it to create the most innovative and collaborative environment for employees. With decades of experience managing mission-critical IT systems for large enterprises, Kyndryl is well-positioned to deliver flexible, adaptive and resilient technology services that support WPP’s strategic ambitions.”
