Exertis Hammer’s global growth continues

As part of Exertis Hammer’s continuing expansion, it has added security and wireless to its VAD portfolio.

This is the latest in a series of developments that will see Exertis Hammer increase both its offering and geographical coverage in the coming year. “We will continue to increase our portfolio via distribution agreements with new vendors,” said Managing Director James Ward. “And we will open more Exertis Hammer offices across Europe, each with their own local feel.”

The expectation, he said, is that within a few years, the bulk of Exertis Hammer revenues will come from outside of the UK.

Exertis Hammer currently has offices in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden (serving the Nordic region), The Netherlands and Spain, which opened in June, to serve Iberia. “This is only the start of our European growth,” said James Ward.

The security and wireless division, with some 40 sales, support and technical experts, is not new. It has been an established part of the Exertis UK business but the decision to move it across to Exertis Hammer was to allow it to be far more responsive in a fast-changing sector. “The division is big and has a lot to offer. We are putting it under the auspices of Exertis Hammer to give it the flexibility to respond to change; giving it the ‘VAD feel’,” said James Ward.

Incorporating a security offering into the Exertis Hammer portfolio has been on the cards for some time. When Exertis, the technology division of DCC, acquired Hammer in 2016, the intention was always to keep Exertis Hammer operating as a stand-alone business. “Adding security was something we were planning on doing long before we were acquired by Exertis but now we can do so with the backing of a bigger organisation,” said James Ward.

Existing Exertis security and wireless customers will see the extra benefits from being able to access the wider Hammer portfolio encompassing server, networking and storage solutions, while current Exertis Hammer customers will now have access to a portfolio of security and wireless products. Vendor brands now available to Exertis Hammer’s pan-European customer base include SonicWALL, Kemp, ESET and Ventev along with other brands with a more specific geographical coverage.

As Jason Hill, Sales Director of the security and wireless division, said: “This move will add a wide portfolio of network, cloud and cyber security solutions to the Exertis Hammer range and allow us to provide resellers and MSPs - and their customers - with pre-sales advice, installations, managed services and on-going support. This move will give us the flexibility and speed to grow, allowing us to meet our customers’ developing future security needs.”

While the bulk of the sales, purchasing and support staff remain in their existing locations, the specialist wireless team has transferred to Exertis Hammer’s head office in Basingstoke.
