Part of the Canadian headquartered Cogeco, with a Southampton base at Town Quay, Cogeco Peer 1 is renowned as being a trusted international provider of Managed Services and Infrastructure. They provide solutions for various other organisations around the globe that require cutting edge information technology systems to help them, and their clients, to remain as market leaders in their sectors. Other organisations that they work with include Bang & Olufsen, Lovespace, Poq, Boohoo and The British Red Cross.
Denise Edghill, Service Director for Growth at Southampton City Council said: “We had a number of very strong submissions from companies looking to secure the contract to provide the integral IT system at Network.
“Cogeco Peer 1’s application stood out due to their reputation for delivering managed innovative IT Services that span cloud, hosting, connectivity and security services. Their agile approach to designing, building and managing an IT solution that offers reliability and top end performance is exactly what we’re looking for in our new development, which will be home to start-up and scale-up organisations operating in the technology and digital based business sector.”
Susan Bowen, President of Cogeco Peer 1, said: “Southampton City Council is a very impressive council, with a forward looking and innovative approach, and the new Network development is testament to this. This co-worker space is going to be occupied by fast-moving technology start-ups and scale-ups, which will need a high-performing IT system they can rely on.
“We are proud to be appointed as the IT system provider for this project and also to have our European Head Office at Town Quay in Southampton. Cogeco Peer 1 offers highly flexible services, our infrastructure and network are built on market-leading technologies which will help enable the occupants of the co-worker space to really maximise their potential.”
The transformation into a co-working space is now well underway, with the fit-out contractors, Concept Building Services, moving forward with the re-purposing of what was once a large retail outlet storage area. Fit out is due for completion in December, with businesses and individuals set to occupy the new development in the New Year, in time for the planned opening in February.
