Skidmore will have revenue responsibility for the company’s growing number of partners and is responsible for developing programs that accelerate delivery of the company’s data reduction solutions through reseller and distributor channels such as the recently announced partnership with Arrow Electronics and IBM. He will manage the overall sales organization, including distribution channel and supply chain and initiate new VAR relationships.

A 20-year veteran of the technology industry who has served in a variety of direct sales, channel and executive management roles, Skidmore comes to Permabit after serving as Vice President of Channels for the Americas at CommVault, where he was in charge of regional, national and distributor partner management teams. Prior to joining CommVault, Skidmore was Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Zetta, a cloud storage-as-a-service company. Previously, he served as Regional Vice President at EqualLogic and was part of the team that helped facilitate the integration of the company into Dell’s business after it was acquired for $1.4 billion. Skidmore also spent seven years at EMC in a variety of North America sales and sales management positions.

“The Vice President of Sales position fully supports our commitment to our storage and distribution partners who are delivering Permabit’s industry-transforming data reduction solutions,” said Tom Cook, Permabit CEO. “Scott’s extensive background and experience in driving channel distribution at leading technology companies makes him the ideal person to take the reins of our sales activities. I look forward to working with him as we leverage our partner relationships to drive additional penetration of our SANblox appliance and Albireo software solutions deeper into the marketplace.”
“I am excited to be joining Permabit and leading the development of channel programs and driving revenue through an indirect business model,” said Skidmore. “The storage industry is changing rapidly and Permabit’s data reduction technology is one of the catalysts, enabling our storage partners to deliver high performance, high capacity storage at dramatically reduced TCO.”
