Tech Data has launched its NAS Configurator, an online tool that enables resellers and retailers to quickly search for and identify network-attached storage products and storage options to suit the different needs of their customers.

The configurator provides a set of options for populating the extensive range of NAS solutions offered by Tech Data from leading vendors such as Western Digital, Buffalo Technology, D-Link, NETGEAR, Synology, and ZyXEL. It can be used to select the drives for populated solutions of all sizes of devices – from single-drive units up to fully-populated 16-bay NAS systems.

A full range of internal disk drive options from leading storage vendors Seagate and Western Digital, with capacities ranging from 2TB up to as much as 16TB, are available within the configurator. In addition, resellers can select the perfect drive for the vertical applicable.

Paul Jacobs, PC Components and Accessories Business Unit Manager at Tech Data UK, says: “NAS sales are growing. They are becoming much more popular with SMBs who need a simple storage solution that can be quickly and easily deployed. They make ideal target devices for the recording of IP surveillance footage and network security, and they are also becoming very popular with consumers who want reliable, high-capacity storage for their personal video, image and music collections.

“The advanced features of today’s NAS solutions mean that they can not only be used on-premises, but also provide private or personal cloud capabilities with secure remote access. There is an excellent choice of solutions to meet every need with regard to performance, capacity, features and budget, and every reason to believe NAS sales will continue to grow.

“We have developed the NAS Configurator tool to make it easier for resellers to identify the right solutions for different customers and to populate the NAS units with the drives that are best-suited to their particular needs. Essentially, we’re giving everyone the tools to sell the right NAS product for the right environment, delivered to your door and ready to go.”

The internal hard drive options from Western Digital and Seagate offered within the configuration tool are specifically designed to work in NAS devices. NAS drives sustain performance streaming and random read/write workloads, intrinsically adjusting and compensating based on usage. They are designed for large workloads and in environments that call for 24/7 availability, reliability and accessibility.
