CipherCloud has announced that SunBridge, a systems integrator, has implemented CipherCloud technology for Fujitsu Communication Services Limited (CSL). Using CipherCloud for Salesforce, CSL can now proactively protect sensitive customer data stored in its large-scale consumer PC contact centre for Fujitsu Ltd.
As part of an initiative to upgrade its multi-channel call centre operations, Fujitsu used salesforce.com as the infrastructure for its contact centre system. The upgrade focused on optimising customer support and enabling social networking sites to increase collaboration options. However, the hybrid enterprise model presented an obstacle for the company’s data security needs as well as its compliance standards for data privacy and residency.
To address these risks, CSL and SunBridge turned to the CipherCloud for Salesforce solution to act as the gateway for securing information moving into the cloud. Today, as customer information is entered into the Fujitsu call centre system, it is automatically scrambled into a string of gibberish before that data enters the cloud. This prevents unauthorised entities from accessing and intercepting the data.
According to Atsushi Sekiguchi, Director, Personal Systems Business Unit, Software Development Centre, Development Dept. III, Fujitsu, “The CipherCloud gateway encrypts sensitive information on premises and it only enters the cloud as gibberish. This protects against unauthorised access to the data in the cloud and enables us to perform highly secure cloud operations.”
“The increase in data regulatory scrutiny around the world creates a business environment where security must be baked in, from the start of any IT project,” said Dev Ghoshal, SVP of Global Alliances, CipherCloud. “This joint implementation with SunBridge enables Fujitsu to bring its contact centre into the cloud and overcome security and privacy risks associated with putting sensitive data in cloud environments.”
CipherCloud’s platform protects sensitive data in real time by enabling security controls – such as encryption, tokenisation, malware detection – along with cloud discovery capabilities and anomalies monitoring. By extending these data level controls into cloud applications, CipherCloud enables customers to use a single gateway for meeting the security, privacy and residency requirements needed to do business around the world.
