Staying safe in Rio

The World Cup in Rio has already been labelled a footballing spectacle in a high risk location, so red24 has pulled together a one-off security advisory package to help UK visitors keep on the smart side of trouble

One thing the cloud can offer is the ability to provide really quite granular services that have a very specific – and short – lifecycle. Take, for example, the new security advisory service being offered by red24 for visitors to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

Crisis management and travel safety specialist, red24, is offering a comprehensive security package to football fans travelling to Brazil for what is expected to be one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

The package provides access to daily email alerts about any potential security incidents that may arise during the event and, crucially, access to a 24/7 crisis hotline to red24 should any trouble arise.

The price of the package is just £16.50 and subscribers also receive an in-depth analytical assessment of the safety and security risks that travellers may face during the event. This includes city-specific information and an interactive map.

Latest estimates put the expected total ticket sales volume for the event at 2.3 million, with many thousands more expected to flock to Rio simply for the experience. England have been allocated 51,222 tickets for their fans at the World Cup, the sixth highest allocation of the competing nations.#

For many, a trip to the FIFA World Cup is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and red24 are aiming to make sure that all football fans have the best possible time.

While the risk of major incidents such as kidnap and terrorism are extremely low, the risk of petty crime incidents such as pick-pocketing remains high. red24 are offering this service as an extra precaution to give football fans peace of mind about their trip to the World Cup.

“We at red24 understand the need for football fans to travel freely when on these trips yet also realise that such a high-profile occasion can attract criminals seeking to take advantage of unsuspecting fans,” said Steven Thompson, the company’s Head of Consulting. “That’s why we are offering this affordable package as a way for fans to feel they are one step ahead of the rest of the crowd whilst safely enjoying this fantastic event.”
