While 77 percent of CIOs and senior IT leaders report that cloud-based infrastructure is in use in their enterprises (according to the Growing Pains in the Cloud study conducted by NTT Communications), accessing public cloud resources is often done over the Internet because of the cost and convenience advantages. This means users must contend with the Internet’s inherent network bandwidth, latency and quality challenges. Silver Peak Cloud Acceleration software available from the AWS Marketplace easily solves these challenges to provide even further consistency, responsiveness and cost-effectiveness of AWS-hosted applications.
“Your business performance depends on your network performance, and the biggest obstacle to any successful cloud deployment is the wide area network,” said Damon Ennis, SVP of products for Silver Peak. “Whether you use the AWS cloud for back-ups, business applications or workforce collaboration, new 1-Click launch support for Silver Peak Cloud Acceleration gives users a new level of simplicity and speed for cloud enablement.”
“Silver Peak software is an excellent fit with AWS technologies and helps customers to quickly and easily accelerate their AWS applications,” said Terry Hanold, Vice President, Cloud Commerce, AWS. “With the new AWS Marketplace 1-Click fulfilment, AWS customers can now easily add Silver Peak Cloud Acceleration to reduce data transfer latency and cost for any application in the cloud.”
Silver Peak Cloud Acceleration for AWS improves data transfer performance while reducing cloud costs. With AWS, traffic charges are predominantly incurred for data moved out of EC2 and between regions. Silver Peak applies byte-level deduplication to identify and eliminate repetitive data patterns from exiting AWS data patterns that would normally increase traffic charges. By minimising the amount of data transferred to and from AWS, especially in the case of replicating data for disaster recovery or transferring large files, organisations can save up to 80 percent of their cloud costs. The Silver Peak software is also highly-elastic, and with utility licensing, IT personnel can increase or decrease capacity on-demand based on data mobility requirements.
