Today’s announcement that Digital Realty, a highly innovative company and a leader in this sector, is building a data centre campus in Dublin, making a significant investment over the phased development and creating up to 150 construction jobs , is a major boost and a further indication of the potential in this area. I wish them every success; we in Government will be working hard to ensure that we see further announcements like this in the coming years."

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Gary Keogh, Sales Director of Digital Realty in Ireland, said, "Ireland remains an important hub for data centres in Europe, and continues to attract foreign investment and multinational companies. As a result, there has been a surge in the demand for compute, data processing and data storage. At Digital Realty, we enable local and international companies alike to turn their data centre strategy into a data advantage.”

Keogh went on to say, “Digital Realty is completely committed to Ireland and the Irish market. We have initiated an aggressive strategy targeting both local and multinational corporations, including large technology and Internet companies. Dublin has an ideal climate for deploying our indirect air optimisation design, which significantly improves our clients’ data centre's energy efficiency by lowering PUE (Power Utilisation Effectiveness) and therefore their total cost of occupancy.”
