Fruit supplier picks InTechnology

InTechnology reveals a further boost to its retail client base by winning a colocation hosting, Wide Area Network (WAN) and managed backup service agreement with leading fruit supplier, Poupart.

Poupart, who supplies fruit to both UK and European supermarkets, signed the contract with InTechnology after rapid growth and expansion caused a strain on its IT network. The fruit supplier found it increasingly difficult to keep pace with dynamic business requirements and the company’s server room in their head office was vulnerable to both flood and power outages.

Even more worryingly, with everything terminating in head office, this meant there was a single point of failure – an issue which has serious implications on business continuity.

InTechnology proposed a colocation solution, with servers physically removed from Poupart’s head office and placed into InTechnology’s data centre in Harrogate, whilst assuming responsibility for managing the WAN and all the UK connecting circuits. This was followed up by deploying its managed backup service, consolidating and storing data from across all nine sites to provide data security and peace of mind.

Gary Cooper, Infrastructure Manager for Poupart said: “You could say that hosting is hosting and one data centre environment is very like another, but from the off InTechnology demonstrated that they were far more of an IT partner than just an IT provider.”

“Yes, we now have an IT infrastructure that is far more aligned with the needs of the business but going forward we also have someone who we trust to advise us, to support us and to supply us with additional services moving forward.”

The move to a highly redundant environment, coupled with Cloud-based data backup, has transformed Poupart’s ability to ride out a disaster, eliminating the single point of failure which previously existed.

Mark Halpin, Sales Manager at InTechnology, said: “We’re delighted to have been chosen by Poupart to provide them with several of our services. By working together we have enabled Poupart’s IT team to focus its time and effort on IT service delivery, supporting staff and clients, and strategic IT development - instead of having its resources drained on a compromised infrastructure.

“Now Poupart has made the positive transition into the Cloud, they can begin to assess potential next steps and make decisions as and when it suits, allowing the company to be more agile; reacting quickly to its business needs.”
