MapR Technologies expands to Nordic Region

Hadoop technology leader expands local support for customers and partners.

MapR Technologies, Inc. has announced that Patrik Svanström, an experienced senior executive, will lead its expansion within the Nordic region from new offices in Stockholm, Sweden.

Patrik Svanström joins MapR following two years as director of the storage division for General Western Europe at Hewlett Packard with a P&L responsibility for eight countries, 120 employees and $500 million revenue stream. Over his 20 year career, Svanström has been managing director for EMC in Sweden and held senior roles at Oracle, Infor and Xerox.

Svanström is joined by Ulf Andreasson as systems architect for the Nordic region. Andreasson brings over 20 years of IT industry and enterprise software experience with both small start-ups as well as larger public companies. Andreasson has broad experience, which includes UNIX, Linux, virtualization, cloud and enterprise management software. While at VMware, he led a small group of system engineers focused on enterprise management in EMEA. Earlier in his career, Andreasson held senior technical roles with SGI, Sun and EMC.

“Hadoop is one of the most exciting developments in technology for over a decade,” said Svanström. “The chance to work with a market leader to build a new team and grow the business at a stage when the technology is starting to head into a wider adoption phase is an exciting prospect. I look forward to bringing my expertise to help deliver real benefits for our clients and partners.”

MapR has doubled the size of its team across Europe in the last six months and now has offices and partner representatives covering the four main EMEA territories of UK, Southern Europe, DACH and the Nordic countries. In March, MapR also certified it first training courses in the region which coincided with the general availability of its new M7 edition.

The M7 Edition is an enterprise-grade platform for NoSQL and Hadoop, providing unique ease of use, dependability and performance advantages. M7 has removed the trade-offs organizations face when looking to deploy a NoSQL solution. M7 not only delivers enterprise-grade features such as Instant Recovery, Snapshots and Mirroring but also provides scale, strong consistency, reliability and continuous low latency.
