EMCOR Group (UK) to focus on Facilities Management Services

EMCOR Group (UK) announces a key milestone in its strategic development process, with its withdrawal from the construction market to focus on facilities management services.

The move closely aligns EMCOR UK’s business with the needs of customers, concentrating on where it delivers most value - in collaborative long-term relationships with customers. This continuous improvement strategy includes reviewing its business operations in accordance with customer requirements, as well as always looking for ways to more efficiently and effectively fulfil customer needs.

In line with this established approach, EMCOR UK identified that due to the construction market conditions in the UK, and customers’ changing requirements, its focus was best placed in areas where it can more fully leverage its knowledge and strength to positively impact customers’ businesses.

EMCOR UK’s facilities management business has been consistently successful in working collaboratively with customers to deliver best-in-class facilities management services and positively impact customers’ organisations. Over the past five years, the facilities division has delivered record revenues and profitability growth year-on-year, evidencing the success of its customer centric approach. This is further demonstrated by EMCOR UK being the first facilities management company to be accredited both with the British Standard in Collaborative Relationships BS 11000, and also recently BS 8903 in Sustainable Procurement.

Keith Chanter, Chief Executive Officer of EMCOR Group (UK), said “EMCOR UK’s strategy for the last five years has been to focus on long-term collaborative customer relationships, and to ensure the alignment of our business with our customers’ needs, in order to maintain a profitable, sustainable business. Today sees a key milestone in this strategic process, with our withdrawal from the construction market. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers and employees for their ongoing support and commitment, and can assure our customers that we will continue to deliver our current projects to the high standards that they value us for. We will be offering support and guidance to our employees through this period and will seek to redeploy wherever possible.”

EMCOR UK will complete its current construction projects, supporting these customers over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition, but will not seek to secure new construction services projects.

Facilities services customers will continue to enjoy benefits from EMCOR UK’s specialist technical services, including refits, refurbishments, fire and security systems, data centres and communications, as well as a full range of integrated hard and soft facilities management services. In support of its strategy, EMCOR UK recently moved to new headquarters offices in Surbiton, Surrey, where it demonstrates new technology, and space utilisation techniques, which customers can experience and benefit from. Furthermore, EMCOR UK has recently opened an office in Cork, Republic of Ireland to better service its customers’ evolving needs.
